Project 17 – Not Seen, Not Heard: Children’s Experiences of the Hostile Environment
SLF grantees Project 17 recently launched their Seen and Heard campaign, calling on local authorities to meet all children’s essential needs, regardless of immigration status. They have published a new report entitled Not Seen, Not Heard: Children’s Experiences of the Hostile Environment as well as a short animation summarising the findings of the report.
Project 17 are inviting your organisation to join the campaign and support our ‘Charter for Children Living in Families with “No Recourse to Public Funds””, which sets out a framework for local authorities to work with such children in need of support under section 17. They are asking local authorities to formally adopt this charter to show their commitment to upholding rights for children living in families with no recourse to public funds.
The charter can be viewed here.
The full report is available to download here. If you would like to read just the executive summary and report recommendations, these can be downloaded here.
A short animation summarising the findings of the report can be viewed here. The Independent’s report can be read here.
If your organisation would like to officially support the charter, please contact Eve by email at eve.dickson@project17.org.uk
